The Matuschka Case

Fraser Sutherland
From:   Matuschka Case: Selected Poems 1970-2005. Toronto: TSAR, 2006.

For some time now my hero has been Sylvestre Matuschka,
who could only get sexual satisfaction blowing up trains.
This interesting Hungarian blew up several
before he was finally captured, costing the railroads
a lot of money and killing quite a few people along the way.

The lesson to be learned from the Matuschka case, it seems to me,
is not the sexual satisfaction part of it,
(Unhappy Hungarian!), but rather this:
that here was that so very rare human being,
a man who truly knew what his pleasure was.
