At the age of seven,
I heard about the magic mountain in the fairy tale.
At the age of fourteen,
I read that mountains are not single but come in ranges.
At the age of twenty-one,
I realized I would never become a mountaineer.
At the age of twenty-eight,
I learned that there is a range of mountains from the Sinais to the Vesuviuses.
At the age of thirty-five,
I listened to tales of mysterious Mount Shasta in Northern California.
At the age of forty-two,
I saw one of those "blue mountain light" movies made by UFA in Germany.
At the age of forty-nine,
I concluded that all the summits are, most of the time, cloud-covered.
At the age of fifty-six
I finally finished reading René Daumal's allegorical novel Mount Analogue.
At the age of sixty-three,
I am writing a poem (this poem) about a molehill, a mound, a foothill, a mount, and a metaphor.
