I Do Not Progress

I do not walk the line
to some visible end.
I snake my way inside
inescapable circles.

This revelation did not come to me
with maturity.
it had always been there,
in the muted sobs
of my childhood,
the inflammations
of adolescence,
the oyster-shells of my later years.

Yes, I was born
as I still am today.
you would call this fate.
