Francis Edward Sparshott:
Born May 19, 1926, Chatham (Kent) U.K., son of Frank Brownley Sparshott, schoolmaster, and Gladwys Winifred (Head). Educated at King's School, Rochester, 1934-43, and Corpus Christi College, Oxford, 1943-44 and 1947-1950. BA and MA, 1950. War service, British Army (Intelligence Corps, Sergeant), 1944-47. Married (1953) Kathleen Elizabeth Vaughan; one daughter, Pumpkin Margaret Elizabeth. prize (poetry), CBC Radio Literary Competition, 1981
Taught philosophy at University of Toronto, 1950-1991 (from 1955 at Victoria College). Member of League of Canadian Poets since 1968 (President, 1977-79). First prize (poetry), CBC Radio Literary Competition, 1981.
