Of Quick Things

White on the white deep windowframe
he bore the twilight of this room
and through the windowblind onto the angled wall
conjured his ribs,

and, my sure sudden sight
allayed in a cup of tea,

his light receded past even the deep window,
his pattern blending into the white light
irretrievable into the wall,

and darkened the guitar�s flat face,
its nape and rump highlit in the wake
of his foot�s winging.
