A Summer Thunderstorm Considered As The Assassination of John Fitzgerald Kennedy

Kathy Shaidle
From:   Lobotomy Magnificat. Oberon Press, 1997.

                               after Ballard

Skin's prayed wet rosaries all day.

Finally thunder turns the corner—a memory trigger.

Can't close the window in time.

Trees wave by the roadside.

A motorcade of clouds.

Then the quality of mercy backfires.

A speeding car blasts a puddle skyward.

The predicted drop in temperature.

Sidewalk and rain—concrete veronica.
