  • Kim Morrissey's first book, Batoche was an equal co-winner of the 1987 Saskatchwan writers Poetry Manuscript Award, judged by Gwendolyn MacEwen and D. G. Jones, and won third prize in the 1987 CBC National Poetry competition, judged by bp nichol and Al Purdy. Batoche was also short-listed for the Gerald Lampert Award (best first book of poetry, League of Canadian Poets) in 1989. The poem "Batoche" from the collection won the Saskatchewan Writers Guild single poem award in 1983.
