Time Under

Laura Lush
From:   Carapace. (Palimpsest Press, 2011).

How ordinary it all is. The world knowing
nothing else. Being born, dying. The berefts only trick---
to die and live, the desert and bones of day-to-day.
No plan, no escape. The colossal effort of one foot in front
of the other. What gifts! Life without the sentient. No music,
no colours, no way of feeling the rubbed out spaces
where we once breathed. Grief, a leg up for a very
long time. Until boredom unstalls, drifts its dark
balloon into some others unprepared room.
