Cosmos

Laura Lush
From:   Carapace. (Palimpsest Press, 2011).

Of the questions left:
Love, Death---this proxy of flower.
Shot-flew of petals
scattering fall---something
of the wind still mauls.
Why I take each day
on my way home from work,
stem snapping, break-point of heart.
My son saying, Dont pick
the flower, Mommy.
I cannot help myself.
I need your purple, agape in mouth.
So all the world savages
such beauties.
